Default Tab Word wrap

How do you have the main document laid out. If you have a tab after the
merge field, you will need to make sure that the tab stop is located to
provide sufficient space for the data that is being merged into the
mergefield so that the tab moves the text to the desired space and not to
the next (default) tab stop.

Maybe you need to layout the document in the form of a table will fixed cell
dimensions.
