Default Compatibility Pack error opening docx

Have Office 2003.
Installed Office Compatibility Pack for 2007 File Formats as administrator,
but get:
"There was an error opening the file"
when try to open a docx file as standard user.
Works OK as administrator.
Tried changing "Confirm conversion at open" option to no avail.

Any ideas?
TIA

Default Compatibility Pack error opening docx

...still not working... def. a rights issue:
uninstalled/reinstalled as admin.. all ok
as user: open word 2003 + docx - error.
give user admin rights: OK
remove admin rights NOK

Can anyone tell me which bit of registry or files to change rights on?
