Default Hyperlinks

I am creating an e-newsletter in word and then converting it to pdf.
However, hyperlinks in the Word doc will not automatically open. I can open
them by right clicking, so I know they are active on some level, but they
won't automatically open when I left click. And, when I convert into pdf,
the hyperlinks are not transfered (as they are supposed to automatically).

I have checked the auto-correct settings in tools and the formatting for
hyperlinks and all is as it should be. Any other ideas?
