Default Can I outline a pre-existing document?

I have an un-numbered outlined document. I'd like to now have it outlined
with Roman Numerals. Some level one areas I do not want a roman numeral by
and some I do. Is this possible?

Hi Roberta

Do the following help:

How to save yourself hours by using Outline View properly
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Format...singOLView.htm

and

How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in your Microsoft Word
document
http://www.ShaunaKelly.com/word/numb...Numbering.html

Hope this helps.
