Default Trouble opening Word docs.

When I double click on word docs (within Windows Explorer) the documents
open correctly. When I use FileOpen from within Word, the docs open in a
basic text only fashion with no formatting or graphics (only references to
the graphics) and with a default font. The docs all reside on my local PC.
Its Word 97 BTW. Anyone got any idea why please?

TIA
