Adding Table Name on continuation pages for a long table
Hello,
When I have a long table (covering several pages) the WORD automatically chops up the table and puts it in thefollowing pages. But it does not allow me to add a title on the continuation pages (for example table 1 (Continued)). How can I insert the table title to suggest that it is still the same table as in previous page? Thanks for your help. |

Adding Table Name on continuation pages for a long table
There's no built-in way to do this. You can put the table caption in the top
row of the table and included it as one of the heading rows. If you insist on it saying "(continued)," then one workaround is to insert the text in the caption on the first page, obscured by a text box or AutoShape anchored to text in a non-heading row. Another alternative used by some users for multi-page tables is to put each table in its own section and put the caption and continuation caption in the First Page Header and Header for the section. -- Suzanne S. Adding Table Name on continuation pages for a long table
Another alternative would be to deliberately split the table after the first
page, put the continuation notice into the top row of the "2nd" table, and turn on the Repeat Header Rows setting for that table. It's not fully automatic, but if the table continues onto multiple pages, it would at least save the trouble of having to copy the continuation notice onto each subsequent page that the table spills onto.
