Our company uses a customised sey of Word templates that match our brand
standards. The problem is that when people copy and paste from external (foreign) Word documents, Word imports the format/style from the foreign document. Is there a way to "lock down" our templates so that Word does not import the foreign format and only pastes the copied content as say Normal - we could then apply our standard heading, paragraph, list, etc formats to the imported content. Similarly, when a word, paragraph or sentence is formatted in a non-standard way (say for emphasis - bold, italics, quotes, etc) can we stop Word from creating a new style and including it in the template. We don't want Word constantly second guessing our intentions and corrupting our branded templates. Can we lock Word templates down and dumb down Word. |

You can hijack the paste button and make it run this macro:
http://vbaexpress.com/kb/getarticle.php?kb_id=18 You could run some code that, on save or close, looks for styles that don't exist in your pre-defined ones, and takes the user to the point in the document that uses the unwanted style. Then, on save or close, you delete any unused styles. I probably make it sound easy, right? ************ Anne Troy VBA Project Manager www.OfficeArticles.com "Terry Rowlings" Terry wrote in message ... My reason for asking is that the kind of control you're looking for was
introduced in Word 2003. For earlier versions, it'll take a combination of faith and jumping through hoops. Depending on how much you need the functionality, it might at least be worth exploring Word 2003 to see if it's worth the investment. A limited-time trial version of Word 2003 is available: http://www.microsoft.com/office/edit...nfo/trial.mspx -- Herb Tyson MS MVP http://www.herbtyson.com Please respond in the newsgroups so everyone can follow along.
