Default Open 2007 Word docs in Tech Refresh

Hi:

I downloaded the 2007 Bets and loved it. I downloaded the TR yesterday and
now I am finding that I cannot open any of the 2007 Word docs I have created
over the past weeks working with the Beta.

If 2007 Word TR is already open the error message I get is 'The file *name
of file* is not available'.

If Word is not open I get an error message that says "Word cannot open this
document template (C:\...\STARTUP\EN7CWYW.dot). I click 'OK' (the only
choice) and then I get the error message above (The file is not available).

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or, even better, how I can
fix it?

Thanks,

Dylan

I hope that you realise that you were using a Beta Version of the Software
and that it should not have been used for critical documents.

See the thread in this newsgroup with the subject "READ BEFORE INSTALLING
OFFICE 2007 B2TR" that was started by Patrick Schmid on September 15.

To access your documents, you are probably going to have to do is to
uninstall Office 2007 completely (as there is no separate uninstall for
B2TR) and then re-install 2007 Beta 2, then you can open them and save them
in Word 97-2003 format, so that after you then upgrade to B2TR, you can open
them.

Hope this helps.

Actually, don't follow that suggestion.
The file not available message stems from a Norton AntiVirus plugin and
reinstalling won't do you any good. See my website under the heading
file not available for instructions on how to solve this issue.
I am pretty confident that this should solve your problem. If you still
get error messages, post back.

I am having the same problem when opening any .docx file. I uninstalled
office 2007 beta 2 but must have deleted the installation file for it
somewhere along the line.

Does anyone know where i can download MS Office Beta 2? (not the technical
refresh)

Thanks,

Dave

From the Office Preview Site. It'll cost you probably $1.50.

LOL. Sorry for the harsh "don't follow it" message. I just didn't want
the OP to go through a lot of trouble and still end up with the same
error message.

If you are using Norton AV then go to Norton Options and in the
Miscellaneous section turn off "Enable Office Plug-in".

If you are not using Norton but it was previously installed then the
DLL for the plug-in could still be registered.

Search for officeav.dll and if found go to Start/Run and run the
following command:

regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll"

In the above example the path for "Officeav.dll" would depend on the
location of the DLL.

Thank you!The problem is easily and quickly solved using Beth Melton's
advice. Now, if only we could as easily fix all the other problem Norton
Anti-Virus causes... grr... )
