Default Help! No Printer Dialog Box

I am using WORD 2000 and have a printing issue that I'm hoping someone has
experienced before and can help me. My operating System is Windows 2000
Professional.

If I open up a Word File from a saved or existing WORD file in My Documents
or Desktop, etc.) and then try and print, the printer dialog box never
appears. But - if I close out of WORD, it then appears and I am able to print
fine. This only happens when I open WORD files outside of WORD. For your
information, this issue doesn not ocurr in any other Office 2000 application
- only WORD.

It should also be noted that if I click on the WORD icon on my desktop and
then search for and open a WORD file in that matter, the printer dialog box
comes up fine and I am able to print.

Any help or resolution for this matter would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Frank,

If you're using Norton Antivirus, disable the Office Plug-in. Under
some circumstances it causes dialogs to open behind the main Word
window. See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=812075 for details.

Thanks for your input Jay. yes, we are using Norton Antivirus, but No - I
don;t know how to disable the Office Plug-in. Please elaborate what that is
and how to disable it if you can. Thanks.

1. Open Norton AntiVirus (right-click on the Systray icon and choose this
option).

2. Click on the Options button at the top of the dialog.

3. In the Options dialog, click on Miscellaneous (menu on the left)

4. Clear the check box for "Enable Office Plug-in."

5. OK out and close NAV.
