Default which encoding should be used for a scanned page in .doc format

i have recieved a scanned file which is in .doc format . i 'am not able to
veiw its contents in word(2003) ,even with all the encoding available .

Not sure who you received the file from, but you might to check permissions,
to verify you have access to it. I realize it would state "Access Denied",
but if this s a program malfunction, then maybe not. Do you get any error
messages, every time you try to view it? Even after scanning, there are still
other ways in which the file might have become corrupted. What do you see
when you view the file? Someone else might have more to offer, depending on
how the file was received, and any error message.
