I've deleted a module from my normal.dot file which contained some
macro code I spent some time creating. I don't think there would be
any way to recover this, but before I start again, is there anyone out
there who can save me a whole lot of hurt..

Not without a backup of normal.dot. If you have the always create backup
option set in tools options save (always a sensible plan) there will be
a backup of the last previously saved version of normal.dot in the user
templates folder.
