Two different outlined bulleted lists
Hi,
In a template for Word 2003, I'm trying to define two different outlined bulleted lists, both having three levels. I have defined them following Shauna Kelly's instructions. The only thing I did differently, is that I have defined my own paragraph styles for each level, since there is only one Word-defined group of styles (List Bullet ..) for bullets. Besides, for my purposes each level has it's own font properties. Of course, I linked my own styles to the appropriate levels in the lists. But ... when I apply one of the lists to some paragraphs and then decide to apply the other list, Word loses the level information; all paragraphs return to level 1. How can I prevent this? Have you created a style for each type of list? This usually works better
than trying to apply a format manually. "José Spanjaard" wrote in message ... Hi, In a template for Word 2003, I'm trying to define two different outlined bulleted lists, both having three levels. Yes, the styles I have created so far a Bullets 1, with linked paragraph styles Bull1Level1, Bull1Level2, Bull1Level3 and Bullets 2, with linked paragraph styles Bull2Level1, Bull2Level2, Bull2Level3 Where, by the way, the linked styles for level 1 'disappear' and are replaced by Bullets 1 resp. Bullets 2. Another puzzling issue... |

Reading between the lines, I think you are setting up a List Style called
Bullets 1 (resp Bullets 2), and also linking the levels to Paragraph Styles? If so, I think that will be the cause of your problem. You need to set the numbering format up from the Bull1Level1 *paragraph style*. Modify (resp. Bull2Level1). Choose the Outline Numbering tab and link all the paragraph styles to their levels in the Customize dialog. You'll need to delete the Bullets list styles from your document or they could get applied by accident and overwrite your paragraph style linking. (To be on the safe side, since you can't delete List Templates, I would start in a fresh document.) -- Margaret Aldis - Microsoft Word MVP Syntagma partnership site: http://www.syntagma.co.uk Word MVP FAQ site: http://www.word.mvps.org "José Spanjaard" wrote in message ...
