Default how do I get columns to wrap down vertically

I want to have 3 columns the left most would be 4" the other 2 would be 1"
each. I know how to creat the columns. The problem is I need them to wrap
down to the next page before wraping to the the columns to the right.

Use a three column table instead of page columns
