Default how 2 write on a scanned document put into a word document

I scanned-in a page of written information and saved it to a mircosoft word
document. When I tried to write on the word document I wasn't able to.
Graham Mayor wrote as an answer to "Marilyn" that what was needed was OCR
software. Where would I find that software.
I own an HP Scanjet 4800 and don't recall anything like OCR software with
the scanner.

Read the documentation that came with your scanner.

Most scanners come packaged with some form of OCR software that might be
better than the rudimentary OCR software - Microsoft Office Document
Imaging - that comes with recent versions of Office but which is not
installed by default (re-run Office setup and add it). Or if you want
something better, there is a variety of commercial OCR software packages
available of which my favourite is Abbyy Finereader.

Do you have Microsoft Office Document Image Writer? Go to File, Print - it
would be there if you have it. It has recognize text using OCR.
