Default Word2010 incompatibility with Word2007?

I submitted a .docx article to an editor. When he returned it to me
for checking, my keyboard shortcuts didn't work -- even Ctrl-C and
Ctrl-V and Ctrl-S.

He admitted that he uses Word2010. Can it have done something to the
file to bypass the shortcuts?

Since you can save keyboard customizations to any Word file (document or template), it's possible that the editor did something. In the Customize Keyboard dialog box, what do you see if you type in Ctrl+C (etc.)?

My _own_ shortcuts -- such as Ctrl-T for Transpose Characters, and
Ctrl-\ for Accept Change, as well as all my fancy accented-letter
shortcuts -- did work, so it was picking up the ones I put into my
normal.dotm template (as changes from the built-ins, for instance),
just not the built-ins. But they were back the next time I opened
Word, so if it was caused by the 2010 file, it was temporary. I
haven't had occasion to open that file again to check. (It might have
just been cosmic rays.)

Nothing at all happened with Ctrl-A, -C, -V, -S, or -Z.

Yes, shortcuts stored in Normal.dotm, or in an add-in, will be accessible to all documents, unless they are overridden by shortcuts stored in the current document.
