Default Sorting on a Column

Yes. Select the column. In the Sort dialog, click Options..., and check the
box for "Sort column only."

Default Sorting on a Column

I am using a new laptop and there is no "sort" option for tables. I am using
works word 8.5 I could sort data in my tables on my old computer that used
Word.

I don't see any sort option anywhere.

I am not sure that the Microsoft Works Word Processore that comes in Works
8.5 is actually a copy of Microsoft Word and as a result, it may not have
that ability. But are you sure that the Tables menu is fully expanded? Or,
maybe you can copy and paste the table into the Microsoft Works Spreadsheet
and sort it there and then copy it back to the word processor.

Hope this helps.
