Hi, Garry. Try this...I just tested it. Tools--Customize. Toolbars tab.
Click on the Format painter button and hit Modify. Change it from Default to
Text Only, and put the & in front of the R instead of in front of the F.
Now, you can use Alt+R to turn on the format painter. Escape to turn it
off.

Thanks Anne but that didn't work for me. It just highlighted the format
painter button when I pressed Alt+R. However it was still helpful because
while modifying the button, it displayed it's secret hotkey combination!
Ctrl+Shift+C !!! And, of course, Ctrl+Shift+V does the paint on the new
selection.

Hi Garry,

There are two preassigned shortcut keys for the Format Painter.
Ctrl+Shift+C copies the formatting. Ctrl+shift+v paints/pastes
it.
