Default table of figures Word 2007

I can insert a Table of Contents fine, but the related options for
inserting a
table of figures, and Index, or table of authorities are greyed out in
my version of Word. -- And the help command says nothing about these.

I can construct these by modifying the styles of the table of
contents, but why can't I do it the old fashioned way?

Hey Gary
Why don't you go to Word option and customize your toolbar to show the
insert table of figures button!!

Are you trying to access the Index, Table of Figures, and Table of
Authorities from the dialog box you see for inserting a Table of Contents?
If that's the case, this is considered "normal" behavior now. To access the
other types, on the References tab, click the corresponding "Insert"
commands in the Captions, Index, and Table of Authorities groups

Yeah. But how do they expect you to find that on the ribbon?

There are a couple resources available, one is the Interactive Guide that
allows you to use the old UI to navigate to a command and it will animate
its new location in Word 2007. There's also a Ribbon Mapping workbook you
can download that lists each menu item and the new location. Both of these
are available in Help in the "What's New" section. Here's a direct link
(both resources are at the bottom of the page):
