Default Word 2003 Styles and Templates

Hello,

I've developed a template with customized styles for our department. When I
go to attach the template to an older document or even insert the older
document into a new document based on the template; it formats my text to
Times New Roman. I checked the custom style and find it is still formatted to
the Arial 10 pt I want to use. Can anyone help me here? What is happening
with my template.

Also, I have protected the document and when I apply the template all styles
are available. Again what is happening?

How are you inserting the old document into the template. Are you doing a
copy and paste?

I have tried copy and paste, but I have also done InsertFile... However,
neither seem to be working correctly. Also, when the document is inserted my
custom headers and footers are changed.
