Default Speech Recognition in Word (Office) 2007 with Vista OS

Ok, I accept that speech recognition is in the OS. I have connected,
configured and tuned my mic. Everything works OK when tested, except when I
open a Word doc and attempt to actually dictate - nothing appears. What am I
missing to enable the speech recognition (Vista based) for use in the 2007
Office application?
