Compatability
I was writing a file with the Office 2007 Beta. When my friend was not able
to open it with Office 2003. It would be nice if the 2 softwares are compatible to a certain extent. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. You need to do a save as and change the file type. The beta is still being
developed so how can you make old software open the work it produces? -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] "Yi Qin" Yi wrote in message ... I was writing a file with the Office 2007 Beta. Compatability {Office 2007 & prior versions]
Hi Yi Qin,
MS will be offering a twin pack update to Windows and converters to Office XP/2003 and the Office viewers that will support opening and (except for the viewers) creating files in either the old or the new file versions. There is a beta version of that twinpack update currently available, http://microsoft.com/office/preview/beta/converter.mspx but as JoAnn mentions, to be sure folks you send files to can use them and will see them similar to how you do, use the Office 2007 compatability mode and work/save in the legacy file versions.
