Default need to change the position of a page number on some pages only

I have a thesis to type. The page numbering is at the top right corner of
each page, however I would like the page number to appear on the bottom
center on the first page of each chapter.

You'll need a section break between chapters, with "Different first page"
enabled. See http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/HeaderFooter.htm (you might
also want to see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting...rontMatter.htm).
