Why does Word consistently lock up while editing a certain
document that contains several tables and a logo on the
first page of the document. I suspect something to do
with the formatting of the document. Thank you.

Often, a hard lockup with a particular document indicates that document is
corrupted. See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm.
