Because of problems with Word, I have been trying to uninstall/re-install
97Office Suite. When CD is inserted, the screen prompted as follows:

c:\Windows\System32\Autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose Close to
terminate the application.

Because of this error, I am unable uninstall or re-install office suite. I
checked my other computers, I could not find autoexec.nt. Could someone
advise me how to go around this problem for uninstalling/re-installing
97office. My computer is set with WinXP Pro and Sp2. Macho

Suddenly, when I open a Word document file, I get a message that the
hyphenation files "mshyph2.dll" and "mshy32.dll" cannot be found. I can't
find them on the Office (Professional) CD nor in Explorer. I did find the
"MSHYPH2.DLL" file and copied it to the Office folder, but that didn't change
anything.

So I can't hyphenate. Which I badly need to do.

I also tried repairing, and that didn't change anything.

Only thing I can think of is to re-install. Should I and if so, should I
install over the existing installation?

I was almost thinking about re-formatting harddrive.
When I install programs, I had no idea the programs are 16-bit
Windows-based/MS DOS programs or not. That is something I got to learn.
Could you please tell me how to tell whether a program is MS-DOS or 16bits.

Generally, older programs are 16-bit, newer programs are 32-bit, and
there are a few 64-bit programs already available. I don't know how to
tell what it is by looking at it though.
