Default Problem with images in Word

When I insert an image into my document I cannot see the image on my screen.
I can see the placeholders but I cannot resize the image in any way. When the
page is printed the image is present.

Irene,

Try TOOLS OPTIONS VIEW and tick or untick selections you want.

If you are working in Normal view, try switching to Print Layout view. If
you already in Print Layout view, then click on Tools | Options | View |
check the "Drawings" box and uncheck the "Picture placeholders" box | Print |
check the "Drawing objects" box | OK.
