Default Password protecting some parts of a form

Hi,
I have an issue when creating a form in word (version MS Office 2003 sp1).

I want to password protect the form, so that users are forced to use the
form, but a couple areas should be friendly to user edits.

According to Word help, I should select Tools Protect Document, and then I
will have options in the Protect Document task pane (such as Editing
Restrictions), that will allow me to set up the password protection by
section.

The problem is that when I select Tools Protect Document, the Protect
Document task pane appears with all options grayed out, as if I did not have
rights to it. I don't get it. I created the document and I am an admin on my
machine. Any ideas?

You must first check the box for "Editing restrictions." You will then have
a choice that includes "Filling in forms." If the document contains more
than one section, you can protect specific sections, leaving others
unprotected. When you click on "Yes, Start Enforcing Protection," you will
have the option of specifying a password.

Hi Suzanne,
My problem is that these check boxes for "Editing restrictions" and
"Formatting restrictions" are all grayed out -- I can't select any of the
options in the Protect Document Pane that appears when I select Tools
Protect Document.

I can't figure out why I these options are grayed out. This is my problem.
Any help appreciated.

Everything in that pane *appears* grayed out. Have you actually tried
checking the box?
