Default Control F no longer works!

In Word 2003, my command to find a word via Control F or even Edit/Find,
stopped working. It says the word is not found, but the word is clearly
there. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot. John

Graham, Thanks for the suggestion. I printed out these pages and read them,
but I don't see what I should do to get the Edit/Find or Control-F to see a
particular word. The box comes up, but it says the word is not there.
Thanks for any continued advice. I appreciate it. Sorry if I'm dumb about
the pages you suggested. John

If Word says the word is not there, believe it. You have either mistyped the
word (unless you found an example and pasted it in), or you are searching
the wrong document story, or there is some other discrepancy (such as that
you have checked "Match case" and the word is capitalized or something).

Thank you, Suzanne. I know the word was in the document, but I think "Match
case" or something else was checked. I have it working again, by fooling
around with the Control-F dialogue box, but I don't know exactly what I did.
But now when I hit Control-H, which used to take me to the top of the
document, the Fine box comes up!

Ctrl+H is the shortcut for the Replace dialog. Ctrl+Home takes you to the
top of the document.
