Default "L" shape

when I open a word document, I see a faded backward "L" shape in the upper
left hand corner of the document and an "L" shape in the upper right corner.
The marks are repeated at the bottom of the page and on each subsequent page.
Any suggestions?

Sen1,
This is usually the result of installing East Asian language support.

Thank you for the response. However, when I attempt to click on Microsoft
Office 2003 Language Settings it ask for the installation CD, which
unfortunately was lost in a move. I do not remember installing any other
language and this problem started just a few days ago. I am not sure why this
requires CD when I have not had the CD for over a year now.

If Office came with your computer, you can try going back to your computer
manufacturer (but that doesn't usually work). If you purchased it
separately, and you can prove that, you can order replacement CDs from
Microsoft.

It sounds like you have the Show Typing Area turns on in the Tools Options.
I think you'll find it defines the corner limits of where you can type, no?

Perhaps with a better description and what kind of problem it's causing, a
targetted response might be easier to make. For now, it seems like normal
operation. Things like version of Word are needed, and a LOT more
information.
