Default Paragraph spacing does not look as configured

Problem: Word 2007 document in compatability mode has paragraph spacing 6pt
before and 6pt after. The document looks as it should. If the document is
saved as docx it then looks as though paragraphs are 0pt before and 6pt after
though Word says spacings are still 6pt before and after. In order to get it
to look right I have to change the setting to 12pt before and 6pt after.

The option "Don't add space between paragraphs of the same style" is not
ticked.

The document was created in Word 2007. Everyone I have checked with at our
site has the same problem.

Computers are running XP-P SP3 and Word 2007 SP1 (12.0.6320.5000)

I cannot replicate that issue with my manipulations of a document on my
machine. Can you post the exact steps for recreating the issue from
scratch.

Go to Office button Word Options Advanced, scroll to the bottom and expand
the Layout Options link. Check the option for "Don't use HTML paragraph auto
spacing".
