Default How do I ensure that a new blank document appears as "Document 1"

When I open a new blank document in Word (2007) I would expect to see
"Document1" at the top of the page. However mine keeps counting ant at
present when I open a new blank document I get "Document 109"!!!!
How do I rectify this?
