When Word opens a blank page the text starts at the very beginning of the page.
I can lower it manually but How can I lower this starting point permanently. Peter |

It almost sounds like you've inadvertently clicked on the "Hide White Space"
option. Put your cursor right at the top of the page and see if a little double arrow icon that says "Show White Space" appears. If it does, click it. I hope this helps.
