Default Mail Merge with attachments

I assume that you are using the macro prepared by fellow MVP Doug Robbins at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MailMerge/...ttachments.htm. I am not sure
whether Doug reads this forum, so you would be better posting in the Word
mailmerge forum, to which I have cross posted this reply (See
http://www.gmayor.com/MSNews.htm for easier access) but a good start would
be to see http://www.gmayor.com/mailmerge_from_outlook.htm to eliminate
checking all those unrequired contacts.

Greetings. I have followed the white papers from word.mvps.org, but
it isn't working, so I have some questions regarding the white paper
and using a mail merge with an attachment. I am doing this procedure
on a laptop with Windows XP Pro and both Office XP and Office 2003
installed, but they are both separate of each other and I am using the
Office 2003 version of Outlook and Word. I just want to send a mass
e-mail that has an attachment and I think the attachment portion of
this is what's causing the problem. The attachment is a PDF file with
some graphics and formatting features that would not work in an
e-mail, but it is still under 100kb in size.

To begin with, I have 1100 contacts in my Contacts folder in Outlook
2003. I only want to send it to two people, as a test, so that's how
I did it this time. One person was numbered at #428 and the other was
#979. I followed the directions on making the Directory file and when
that stuff was all done it properly displayed the two recipients. The
problem occurs when it brings up that macro warning window, in which I
am to reply Yes, No, or Cancel. I do have ExpressClick running, and
each time the window appears, it is only displayed for 6 seconds, then
it disappears, then reappears for another 6 seconds, and so on, and so
forth. I started this process at 3:30pm yesterday and it was still
doing it at 9am this morning; I promptly ended it. I figured that it
should have stopped doing it after the two people were selected
(assuming each macro warning window has a 1:1 ratio with the contacts
I selected), so after 12 seconds, but even if it went through all 1100
contacts, it still should have finished in under 2 hours. Granted, if
each contact/recipient gets that macro warning window multiple times,
then that obviously would make the process take significantly longer.
If there could be some clarification on how many times that window
shows up per person, that would be helpful on my end.

Did I do something wrong/stray from the instructions? Obviously not
having you watch over my shoulder makes it hard to answer that
question, but where should I be looking for the problem? Is it with
the attachment? Is it with my Directory file? Does anyone recommend
a third-party provider that will do what I need? Is there a better
piece of code out there that I should be using?. Thank you for
helping me out. Have a wonderful day!

The one thing that I do know about this, is that everything must be done
just right otherwise it will not work.

The Express Click Yes warning should only appear one time. If it appears
for each record, then there must be something else going on.

You are correct in your assumption. I have sent an e-mail to that
website, but it mentioned that it would be best to post. I assumed
posting here, nor did I notice the forum there, but I will put it out
there as well. Doug Robbins has replied to my posting, but I will
still put something out there for more eyes to see. I will also look
at your supplied links and see where that takes me. Thank you for your
follow-up!

Thank you for the response. The Express Click Yes warning appears
every 6 seconds, so apparently something else is going on. I will go
back through and follow the directions again for several more times and
see if I come up with different results. Thank you again for your
assistance.
