Open Tools | Customize, select the desired button, right-click, and choose
"Copy Button Image." Close Customize and paste the image. Repeat as needed.

We do a PrtScr and then open MS Paint and Paste the whole picture in there.
Then you can zoom in and use the Select tool to select just the desired icon.
Ctrl+C and then paste it into your doc.

I also need to copy an icon into a manual. The below suggestion is not
possible on my pc, I do not get the option "copy button image". The message I
get is "What's this".

You only get the option for 'buttons', not the myriad other types of icons.
I realise as a user you may not recognise the difference.

If that option is not available for the icon you want you have to go a more
roundabout way - either

print screen and copy into Paint (or some equivalent) and then cut out
the bit you want - or -
use some specialist software - or -
you can get hold of these images in VBA code if you know how to use it.

You specifically mentioned the Formatting toolbar, and this does work for
toolbar buttons, but you must have the Tools | Customize dialog open.

This was just what I needed, Copy button method, the print screen option is
too much hardship!

Thanks

Hi Suzanne,

First now I see your advice. It does work, but only when I have first placed
the wanted icon on my normal toolbar. It does not work if I want to copy it
from the list of all icons.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Jane Ugilt

This works for me in Microsoft Word. Is there anyway to paste internet icons
into Word? I am also trying to teach seniors.

You could use a screen capture utility such as SnagIt (www.techsmith.com).
