unable to change headings
OK..this is a simple documnet, using a template. The template was created by
someone else. They kindly created new headings in the styles list and labelled them clearly (thank you). I cut and paste some text from a maimed subdoc that belonged to a cruel and evil master. I have no interest in creating a new master doc - and am rather upset with the yahoo who decided it would be a good idea...lol...editing his work has been hell. I simply want some of his text - pure and simple. Of course, all kinds of crap comes with the text. When I try to change the formatting of a title from Hyperlink + 12 to Heading 5, it will not stay changed and keeps going back to Hyperlink+12.... Arggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...I hate Word. Here's how I would do it:
1. Go to the Format tab at the top of the page 2. Open the drop down list all the way, & choose Reveal Formatting. 3. A menu of sorts should appear on the right side of your screen. 4. Highlight the header text your want to change, & looking at the menu to the right of the screen it should show you what the formatting is on your highlighted text. 5. Look for paragraph style which is underlined & with blue font. It will open up options box for how you want the highlighted text to be. Or... Depending on what the text is that you're trying to remove the hyperlink from or what you're settings are on hyperlinks, you may be able to right click on the hyperlink & choose remove hyperlink. After you remove the hyperlink, you can do whatever you want with it. Hope either one of these helps...If not let me know [ ...::: KlikThis :::... ] |

Thanks Klik...I'd already tried both. There are no actual hyperlinks
associated with the text. And I have even tried to delete the format/style entirely but, like the cat. it keeps coming back - I delete it, I highlight the newly freed text - yes, it has revertd to normal...yay.. I select "heading 3" and boom..."hyperlink+ 12". I finally "fixed" it by highlighting each section of text - and that's weird too, because if I highlight the ENTIRE text fragment, it messes with my mind, but I select all but the last word..it changes quite willngly. Include the last word and..."hyperlink + 12"... What moron decided Word was going to be the "standard" in today's modern office????? Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.... "KlikThis" wrote: Here's how I would do it: 1. Instead of a regular paste, try Paste Special as unformatted text, and
then apply the Heading 5 style. Sharon wrote: OK..this is a simple documnet, using a template. The template was created by someone else. Thanks Garfield (a neat band from the 70s, btw as well as beloved fat cat) I
hadn't thought of this. I'll try it and see what happens. S |

Well..I found the best solution. The entire file exploded in my face
yesterday (yes, it corrupted - quite spectacularly, I might add), and, in absolute disgust, I deep-sixed the damned tthing. Told my manager what happened and that I saw no hope of recovery. Now it's no longer my problem.... Thanks to everyone who tried to help... |
