Default Word 2007 Closes if no Document Open

Unlike the other Office 2007 applications, if I close the lst working
document I have open in Word then the application closes. Is there a setting
I can toggle/change that will keep Word open without having a document open?

There are many ways to do what you want to do:
1. Click the Office Button to display the Office menu and click Close
2. You can easily add the Close command button to the Quick Access Toolbar;
click the Office Button to display the Office menu; right click Close and
click Add to Quick Access Toolbar
3. You can also press one of the following combinations:
CTRL+F4
CTRL+W
Key Tips (ALT+F+C)
4. You can change the default SDI to MDI; to do so, click the Office Button
to display the Office menu; click Word Options to display the Word Options
dialog box and click Advanced to display the Advanced options; under Display,
clear the Show all windows in the taskbar check box; click OK

a. This will also provide a second Close button for closing the document,
below the one that closes Word; you display the Minimize Window, Restore
Window and Close Window buttons to the far right of the tab names on the
Ribbon under the Minimize, Restore Down and Close buttons

b. You also display a document button (unnamed) to the immediate right of
the Office Button that you can click to display a menu that includes
Restore, Minimize and Close (active document only), which when clicked with
only one document open, closes that document but not Word

c. You also change how Word displays Word windows on the taskbar from the
default SDI (each open document has its own window that, space permitting, is
displayed in the taskbar) to the MDI (multiple document interface (only the
active document is displayed on the taskbar)
