Avery Label Template Locations
I can download a template for Avery File Folder Labels (#5202) but can't seem
to find where all the label templates are housed to be able to save it so I can find it easily the next time I want to use it. It's not a document template 'cause I looked in there. Anyone know the location of the label templates so I can save it in that folder? Thanks. Bonnie |

Bonnie If you downloaded it from www.avery.com, what you received is a Word document. It's the same thing you would get if you selected the same label style in the Labels dialog (if it was there) and clicked the New Document button. You can open that document, click File Save As, and change the "Save as type" dropdown to Word Template. That will change the extension from .doc to ..dot and change the folder to the standard User Templates folder. Click OK. Whenever you want to use this template, click File New (and then, in Word 2002 or 2003, click "On my computer" in the task pane) and select the template from the dialog. What this Avery "template" does *not* do is add any label definitions to the Options list in the Labels dialog. You could define a custom label in that dialog and give it the dimensions of the 5202 label, but that's something different. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org |

Thank you for this reply. I did know how to save a Word template, but was
trying to avoid saving it in the doc template area since I'd like to look for it in the labels template area. I was also trying to avoid creating a custom label since Avery had a "template" available. Too bad they couldn't work together on this. Guess I'll create a custom label. Thanks anyway.
