how do I open a network file that is read only
I have a network file that is read only. When users go to open it by browsing
to the file in explorer they are told they don't have permissions to open it. If they first open Word and filepen, browse to it, and hit the down arrow to select open Read-Only it works. I want to know if there is a setting that will prompt them to open the file as read-only if they open it in explorer and don't have write permission. |

how do I open a network file that is read only
Hi ?B?TWF0dA==?=,
I have a network file that is read only. When users go to open it by browsing to the file in explorer they are told they don't have permissions to open it. If they first open Word and filepen, browse to it, and hit the down arrow to select open Read-Only it works. I want to know if there is a setting that will prompt them to open the file as read-only if they open it in explorer and don't have write permission. I expect this depends on what kind of file (Word document? Text file?) it is, and how the read-only setting was assigned...
