Default How do I get rid of a format that appears each time on a new doc?

I was formatting a long document and somehow one of the numbering formats is
"stuck", if you will, and appears when I open a new document. I tried
clearing the format, not saving the document, and it still appears on new
documents. How do I get rid of this.
