Default Word for windows dropped off my pc suddenly, how do I get it back?

About a month ago all my word files changed to Notepad, and I cannot get Word
back up? Ive tried reinstalling using my original Microsoft WorksSuite 2001
Disc 1 "Microsoft Word 2000 SR-1" but I still cant find Word?

Can anyone help, I dont want to have to pay for a new download when I
already have it but just seemed to have lost it entirely in my computer?

Do a search for the file Winword.exe. If you see it double click on it and
see what happens. Word should open up. Also check what directory its in as
well. Let me know the result.

Thanks Gordon! I found 2 similar files:
WINWORD.EXE-.pf3f132bc9 - in C:\Windows\Prefetch Modified 21June05
and;
WINWORD - in C:\Programfiles\MicrosoftOffice\Office Modified 25Feb00

Which should I click on? The latter has the little Word Icon that I recognise?

Hi again Gordon, when I clicked on the WINWORD file in program files, it came
up with an error box "This application must be installed to run. Please run
setup from the location where you originally installed the applictaion." ? Im
confused about that as ive tried to re-install from the disc! Should I call
my computer help desk (in India)?!?!?!?

Cheers Wilso
