Default Rotating a picture

I am trying to rotate a picture in Word 2000, but the rotate function
does not work. Does anyone know how to fix this. Never used it before?
Inserted a picture of a flag and need to rotate it 90 degrees. TIA

Open the graphic in a graphics program. Rotate. Save. Insert into Word
document.

JoAnn's advice is gold if you need the picture to be inline. If you can use
it wrapped, then setting the wrapping to other than In Line With Text will
allow you to rotate it.

That's garbage. You should be able to hit the rotate 90 degree tool in the
tool bar.

If that doesn't work, then something is screwed up in Word.

Perhaps that's how you might prefer it to be, but that *isn't* how it is,
nor should it be. Word is a Word processing program, not an image editor -
it can do some things with *shapes* (vectors) but not much with *pictures
(raster images). Any responsible recommendation will be similar to what
JoAnn expressed - finish artwork in the appropriate application, then insert
into the doc.

You should be able to rotate clip art provided the wrapping is other than In
Line With Text. I have a vague recollection, however, that this may have
changed between Word 2000 and 2002.
