Default How do I correct a corrupt MS WORD file (name or path invalid)?

I have a word document that I can no longer open. I believe the file is
corrupted. When I try to open it I get the error message as follows:
"Document name or path is not valid. Try one of the following: *check path
name *Got to file menu; select open; and select the file."

Try the 'Retrieve text from any file' option (under Files of Type on the
File Open dialog. If that fails you'll need to restore the file from
whatever backup medium you use.

Default How do I correct a corrupt MS WORD file (name or path invalid)

I ended up doing the following: Went to the file menu and selected "open" and
clicked ONCE on the file name (of the corrupted document) and then on the
button that says €śopen€ť I saw the down arrow €“ if you click it, you get a
little menu and €śOpen & Repair€ť is the last one on the list. I selected
"open and repair" and it restored the document with all formatting and
embedded figures. Thanks for the help.
