I save many MDI file from MS Office 2003, but now I cannot open *.MDI from
new MS Office 2007. What can I do?

I don't think Word was ever able to open MDI files. Microsoft Document
Imaging was pretty much a self contained OCR application, part of Office
Tools. Microsoft is moving the scanning function from Office with Office
2007 to Windows Vista, so you may get the compatibility returned when that
becomes available.

If these MDI files are important in the interim I guess you will have to
reinstall Office 2003. Frankly for me Office 2007 is an answer to a question
I haven't asked and life is too short for messing around with beta software.
I will be waiting a while before I consider changing.

Hi Michael,

MS Office Document Imaging is an optional install item included in the 2007 editions. It is basically unchanged from Office 2003.
You should be able to install it by going to the Microsoft Office 2007 listing in Add/Remove programs in the Windows control panel
and changing the feature set (o) Add or Remove Features, under Office Tools.
