Default The lines of tables made in word 2003 don't show up in 2007. Help

In Word 2003, I had documents with tables in them. The tables had
lines/borders surround all of the cells. When I open those same documents
with Word 2007, the table remains, but all of the lines disappeared. This
happens in every single document with no excpetion.

Now I know i can put the lines back in manually in 2007, that's not my
question. My question is why is 2007 automatically getting rid of them in the
first place and how can I stop it from happening? Is there some setting I
can't find that controls that?

Did the tables have borders or was it gridlines that you were seeing in Word
2003 (the former print, the latter don't)?

If they were Gridlines, to display them in Word 2007, activate the Layout
tab under Table Tools (the selection must be in a table) and under the Table
section of the Ribbon, click on the View Gridlines item.

I have not experienced the problem that you describe in the case of table
borders.

You're correct. I already realized they were gridlines... I'm researching
this for someone in the department I support. However... that brings my next
question. The girdlines automatically show up in Word 2003 for the
documents... Different computers than they were made on. In 2007, the
gridlines aren't automatic. Any way to make that so?

The behaviour is the same in both versions - the setting is "sticky". That
is, once you turn on the display of gridlines, it stays on from one document
to the next, unless it is turned off by the user.
