Default How can I protect a doc so you have to use a password to openit?

Greetings dougleit:

The exact instructions vary, depending on which version of Word you have
and which version of Windows. All but the very earliest versions of Word
are able to password protect a document. I suggest you look in the Help
file for exact instructions.

If you do that, make sure you DO NOT forget that password. If you search the
archives of the newsgroups, you will see that they are a lot of people who
forgot the password and now they are screwed. (That's the technical term.)

For MS Word 2003
Try
Tools, Options, Security,
here you will find a place to enter a password.

Thanks Peter. That does it. Appreciate your time. I got mixed up with some
complicated windows password procedure which I guess is for more complicated
requirements. doug
