Default How do I create a field containing the word count of just one style?

I am using Microsoft Office Word 2007.

If you go to "insert" -- "quick parts" -- "Field" then an option comes up to insert "NumWords" to allow you to insert a field containing the total number of words in the document.

BUT

I have a number of styles in my document, one of which is "Normal" (as you might expect!).

SO ... I would like to insert a field that contains a count of only the words in the paragraphs with the style "Normal".

How do I do that?

Thanks

Sorry, there is no field in Word that can do that. You can get the count of
words in any particular style, you just can't insert it into the document as a
field.

In Word 2007, press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S or click the little arrow in the bottom
right corner of the Styles group on the Home ribbon. In earlier versions, click
Format Styles and Formatting. That displays the Styles task pane.

In the task pane, right-click the Normal style and choose "Select all n
Instances". The Word Count in the status bar (or the Tools Word Count dialog
in earlier versions) will show you the number of words in the selected text.

Additional comment:
The €śSelect All n Instances€ť is only enabled if Tools Options Edit tab
€śKeep track of formatting€ť is turned on (Word 2007: Office button Word

Options Advanced category Editing options group €śKeep track of
formatting€ť).

If €śKeep€ť track of formatting is turned off, you will instead see the text
€śSelect All: Not Currently Used€ť (and the command is disabled).
