Default How do I apply a double underline in a table cell?

I work in an accounting department and desire to put double underlines in
certain cells within a Word table. I've attempted to try Format, Font,
Underline style. When I select double underline...it only double underlines
the figures within the cell - NOT the complete cell. I've also used the
Border button when the double underline is required in the middle of a table;
however, I'm needing a double underline on the bottom line of the table. I'm
using MS Office XP. Thanks so much!

Thumbs up Answer: How do I apply a double underline in a table cell?

  1. To apply a double underline to a table cell in Microsoft Word, you can follow these steps:

    1. First, select the cell or cells where you want to apply the double underline.
    2. Next, go to the "Home" tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.
    3. In the "Font" section of the ribbon, click on the small arrow in the bottom right corner to open the "Font" dialog box.
    4. In the "Font" dialog box, click on the "Underline style" dropdown menu and select "Double underline".
    5. Click "OK" to close the dialog box and apply the double underline to the selected cells.

If you want to apply a double underline to the bottom line of a table, you can follow these steps:

  1. 1. First, select the entire row where you want to apply the double underline.
    2. Next, go to the "Layout" tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.
    3. In the "Table" section of the ribbon, click on the "Borders" dropdown menu and select "Bottom double border".
    4. This will apply a double underline to the bottom of the selected row.

Assuming you currently have NO borders on the table, select the cell or
click inside of it.
Hit Format--Borders and Shading.
At the bottom-right, make sure the Apply to says CELL.
On the Borders tab, choose NONE under Setting.
On the Style, scroll down a little bit and choose the two-line jobbie.
In the Preview window, click the 3rd button from the top.

Hope it helps!
