Default Track Changes?

Hello Everyone:

Some users at the company I work for are having issues with the track
changes feature in Word 2003...

Here's the scenario:

1. All of the users work in the proposals department - and as such - use the
track changes feature to ensure that everyone knows who edited the various
portions of the document (sometimes 200+ pages.)

2. When this department is finished - they send the document out to our
clients for acceptance. This is where the problem arises. Some of the clients
ask for the MS Word (*.doc) file to accompany the printed copy.

3. When the clients receive the document they can still see the comments.
Even when the department employees have accepted all changes.

This is a big problem since some of they comments / changes in the document
are for internal use only. Is there a way to remove ALL tracked changes from
a document prior to sending it to a client?

IE. User saves document to client folder on HD (keeps original doc on
company server) then pushes "Remove all tracked changes" and re-saves file --
does this work?

Keep in mind that the users have already tried "Accept All Changes" -- the
clients report that they can still look up the former

Thanks in advance!

Do they also select Delete All Comments in Document?

Hi Suzanne:

I don't know if they click "Delete All Comments" in the Document. Do you
think this will remove all of the changes and comments? This would be good
since, as I said before, privileged information is sometimes discussed in
these comments.

This issue is isolated to Word 2003 - I have users running all the way back
to Word 2000 (yikes) - who can only see the "Markup" if they specifically
select "Markup View."

Accept All Changes in Document just takes care of the tracked changes;
Delete All Comments will deal with the comments. After that, there should be
no markup left.
