Mark after para
There is a mark after a paragraph which I can't even copy to show you. I
think it has something to to with numbering. It's a line with a tail at the top and the bottom |

Look at http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NonPrintChars.htm and see if
you see it there. Also look at the Help topic "I see something unusual in my document." -- Suzanne S. Hi ?B?SmFuZSBGcmFzZXI=?=,

It's a line with a tail at the top and the bottom You mean, it looks like a captital "I"? if you go into Tools/Options/View and make sure the checkbox next to "bookmarks" is not activated, does it go away?
