Default When spellchecking, I can't add new words to the dictionary.

I have just changed from Apple to PC and Microsoft Word 2007. I do medical
work and my custom dictionary is not being recognised. Also, when
spellchecking, it won't allow me to add words to the dictionary as in the old
version. Can anyone help as there is nothing in the built-in help to solve my
problem.

Word Options Proofing Custom Dictionaries - ensure your dictionary(s) is
checked.
