It would seem that it isn't possible to run a spellcheck within a table - as
if the content of the table equals a picture instead of text. Tables are used
for all sorts of things and spellchecking should be possible.

It is entirely possible to spell check in a table. If this is not working
for you, then either the text is marked as "no proofing" or the table is in
a text box and is being spell checked after the main document layer.
